Dead Roses – Music & Lyrics by Jordan Sweeney
I see another dead rose find the floor. This one stung more than the one before. A chance to me is just a passing time. Our ignorance has formed an unattractive mind. Weeds grow thorns, but dead roses bleed way more. My knees on the floor. Believe me, I want way more. You pull a weed and think it’s gone for good. The way you look at me misunderstood. “And I know, and I know, and I know, and I know.” It’s all I ever say anymore. Weeds grow thorns, but dead roses bleed way more. My knees on the floor. Believe me, I want way more. Silence, frustration. These words lead to separation. Why can’t they just avoid me! Everywhere I look there’s roses. I’m tired of not seeing through them. The thorn will carve its name in me and I don’t understand how it wrapped around my arm. This vicious cycle’s running on empty. Weeds grow thorns, but dead roses bleed way more. My knees on the floor. Believe me, I want way more. I’m trying my best to repair. I’m defying all I know to see this through. I’m crystalizing all alone. Please help me understand why I’m alone? The mirror’s showing wear and tear. This isn’t what I wanted for myself. I’m bleeding from within with you. If I can bleed with you, I guess I’m fine. Why can’t we just see eye to eye? I’m praying that I’ll find my way back home.
